Training

By participating in our program, the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership will be stressed to prepare our participants for real life situations. As an extra-curricular activity, it is essential to understand the benefits this opportunity will provide. After completing research, we found sports reduces the risk of obesity, improves coordination and balance, and also enhances social and personal skills.

The participant’s physical movement body coordination will develop over time after continuing to actively participate. We have all heard the phrases, “Education is the Key to Success,” or “Knowledge is Power.” The participants will learn the benefits of excellent time management skills along with the importance of prioritizing for educational purposes. Ball Life Africa stands firmly behind education as the foundation of success.

We offer customizable camp options that are tailored towards the the athlete’s needs. Our technical basketball camp instruction, rigorous drill sequences, and guided game-situational play approach, combined with physical and mental conditioning, helps basketball campers between the ages of 7-18 of any skill level evolve their game. The key to quality basketball conditioning drills is to offer clear instruction and be challenging. The right ones incorporate all skills of basketball (passing, dribbling, rebounding, shooting, and defense).

Our training process includes the following:

Technical

Ball-handling, shooting form, rebounding, footwork and finishing skills.

Physical

Increase speed/agility, build explosive power, increase endurance and aerobic capacity and reduce chance of injury.

Mental

Learn mental toughness and discipline; Build player confidence, superior focus, game preparation and improved attitude.

Game Situations

Floor spacing, movement off of a screen, 1-on-1 attacking and defense and ball penetration.

Advanced Techniques

Reading a defense, managing fast break situations, post moves (high and low post), running a team as a point guard, creating your shot and help defense.

Skills for Life Programs

Through our Ball Life Skill for Life programs, participants learn to recognize what needs to be accomplished and to focus on the task at hand. Our  program will provide an excellent opportunity for your child to learn teamwork, communication and personal responsibility. Ball life Africa will feature this program for different age groups throughout the year to help reinforce these principles.

Basic Life Skills Pre-teen Ages 7-10

Pre-Teens will learn how to care for themselves and for the environment around them. This stage is meant to be a period of transition into increased competency, and personal responsibility as they prepare to enter the adolescent stages.

Understanding this developmental need, we at Ball Life Africa will focus on teaching these basic life skills to each of our students from day one. Personal hygiene is highly encouraged. Each learns to keep their personal space clean and organized both at the basketball court and by extension at home. We also rotate the children through different life skills areas during their time with us, each with their own responsibility, ranging from cleaning around themselves, and time organization. As our participants learn to take care of themselves and their environment, they begin to build self-esteem, competency, and an appreciation for the things around them.

Teen Fitness & Nutrition Ages 11-18

A foundational life skill for every teen is to learn the benefits and practices of fitness and nutrition. Teens who are not conscious of what they eat and drink are damaging their bodies and are not particularly motivated to participate in regular exercise.

By participating in our teen program and  our physical fitness regimen, students begin to learn how to structure their time to invest in physical fitness. As they begin to see the physical benefits of fitness, they are able to build self-esteem while learning positive habits that can last a lifetime. We also believe in emphasizing a balanced, nutritious diet for our participants and also recommend meal plans and how to prepare these types of meals for themselves at home. Other activity also includes swimming and learning how to ride motor cycles.

Volunteerism & Work Skills Ages 12-19

Learning basic work skills is also an important part of the development of any teen. One way that we help to prepare our participants for future jobs is to invest in volunteerism and apprenticeship within the community. Our teens are able to learn skills for future employment while helping local charities and churches at the same time.

We also take time to teach each of our participants basic skills such as : writing their resumes,  proposals and academic reports, mechanic apprenticeship, motor cycle maintenance and volunteering is also offered by  Ball Life Africa partners. By focusing on helping others, learning professionalism, and service, our participants begin to realize their potential to make a positive difference in the world around them while gaining beneficial work skills.
